Local Roots. Local Mission. Big Moves.

Helping save our local history, one structure at a time.

How do you get into moving large structures?
Here's our Story.

Our family has called Boulder County home for over two decades, and we live in Louisville. In fact, we first started this journey years ago, by rallying our community to save historic train cars from being demolished. These two cars now site proudly at Pine St. and Courtesy Road on the East side of Louisville, welcoming everyone into the East Gateway to the downtown area.

After saving the trains – and learning a lot in the process about what it takes to move behemoth structures – we were presented with the opportunity to save a century-old home in Louisville from being demolished. We scaled up, invested in  our own professional moving equipment, and lifted and moved our first house – a historic, 1926, Louisville home known as ‘The Haven’. There’s nothing like saving a historic home from being demolished, and our first was an absolutely unforgettable experience. We couldn’t stop smiling ear-to-ear seeing it rolling down the road to its new home!

We loved the process of moving historic homes so much, in fact, that we decided to start Historic Havens to help others keep their charming, historic homes – while still having the space to expand with growing families and changing times.

In our free time, we’re continuing to build the Historic East Gateway to Downtown Louisville, which involves restoring a turn-of-the-century Louisville coal-miners’ cabin known as The Mansion, as well as an authentic 1898 C&S Narrow Gauge Boxcar alongside The Louisville Caboose.

We also love our town’s history, and may or may not have dug up the last known access shaft the historic Acme Mine, saving dozens of century-old relics. We also tend to dig up old signs, collect old newspapers found under floorboards, restore coal coal mining carts, and generally attempt to discover and save anything we can from our town’s past. We even started a nonprofit specifically to do so! Basically, we advocate as much as we can for saving and preserving our small town’s history (before it’s all gone!).

And now, we’re seeking to help our community keep its historic character through saving and improving as many old historic Louisville and Boulder County homes as we can – like yours!

Thank you for being part of this journey – and allowing us to be part of yours.
